Greetings Scribes,
A full meeting and welcoming Bob back from UK (hopefully sans Covid-19) for 3 weeks. Derek wasn’t present to do the creative lesson, so Mike continued to chair this week’s meeting. There was plenty of discussion, as can be seen below.
Readings:
David: Based on last week’s homework: I always wanted more– ‘Rock gleaming’ – the story of a drummer who was limited in expressing his musical talents in public.
This led to a discussion about how television sitcoms have been taken off air due to being non-pc and the noisy nationalities at music events.
Gillian: Based on last week’s homework: ‘The Lawnmower Man’ – A gardener who turns into a rabbit.
This led to a discussion about consuming wildlife.
Rick: Based on last week’s homework: ‘Island Life’ – a tale inspired by Rick’s feelings when he returns to Vancouver Island, describing island life.
This led to a discussion on hippy-styled life.
Bob mentioned a self-published event he attended in UK with tips on crime writing.
Readings:
June: Based on last week’s homework: ‘What might have been’ – a story of her musical hopes to be in a musical or to sing with a big swing band.
Mike: Based on last week’s homework: ‘What could have been’ – An accountant with dreams of being in the music industry.
Coffee break: 11:00 – 11:30
Dee: A new, as yet, untitled thriller based on multiple well known detectives, set across the UK. Dee was given plenty of constructive and positive feedback. A great start.
Bob: An extract from the 3rd chapter of his next standalone thriller, 7th book - “A killing place in the sun”. Due out on 7th April 2020 on Amazon.
Homework:
‘It began with a thunderclap’
Write a story or poem in any genre, up to 500 words, using the above prompt.
Next meeting will be on: Thursday 19 March at Neo’s Sports Club.
Thanks to all who attended and happy writing.
