Minutes of the Meeting of 5 September 2019

The first meeting, of the start of the autumn term, was lively and interesting, despite the numbers.
Readings based on previous homework themes:
Caroline ‘Beach Baby - a descriptive story about conception on the beach
Mike ‘The Big Event’ - a reflective, personal story from birth to present day
John ‘Magnetic Pole’ – an extract from a story based upon global warming full of facts. John aims to produce a novella.
A discussion followed John’s extract, regarding climate change. Which then led to John introducing the benefits of learning online. He recommends ‘Future Learn’ courses which offer courses on various topics.
Coffee break: 11:00 – 11:30
Readings:
Yvonne - ‘The Nicosia Dog Shelter Needs Your Help’ – a descriptive, emotive story written for the Shelter magazine in order to encourage re-homing of the abandoned dogs.
Caroline - ‘Where is Guy Fawkes when you need him?’ – a historical story leading up to the current political situation in London, UK.
Jordi - an extract from his novel around Marlowe, Shakespeare, Faustus and others. Jordi has re-written parts of his story, as he’s found new evidence, during the course of his research.
Homework: Write a story or poem illustrating empathy.
