P.W.G Minutes of the Meeting on 14 September 2017

Welcome scribes, a good attendance and a lively, humorous meeting chaired by Jennie. John Goodwin returns next Thursday.  Nice to see the return of Stewart who gave us news that he and Penny will be returning to the U.K permanently very soon. With Eddy Kent and John Winslow also going and our good friend Nicos not able to attend regularly, a recruiting drive may be required.

 

A short discussion followed regarding how best to find a professional editor for Jordi's book. Bob offered to send Jordi some information.

The homework set by Jennie last week brought some surprising features and a few raised eyebrows but very entertaining.

Words ending -ORE:

 

10 words ending -ore were read out and you had to write down their definitions and state which parts of speech they were. Most words dated from 12th century but are still used today.

 

Coffee break:  11.00 am to 11.15 am

 

Word Quizzes followed:

 

Words beginning with –ret. Words ending in -ret.

Words beginning with –san. Words ending with -san.

Homework:

 

Jennie gave everyone a list of ten Interesting Literary Facts from 2017 and the homework is to choose one and write a story/poem around the fact (300/500 words).
